A New-Fashioned Hymn Sing
Singing the Journey

Vivien Montgomery, Music Director

This is for the Choir! This is for our elders! This is for old UUs! This is for newcomers! This is for young adults and teens and kids, as well as adults. We will spend a whole hour in the Meetinghouse singing hymns from Singing the Journey, the new UUA supplementary hymnal. There are hymns and songs here from a whole variety of cultures. Some are easy. Some need work. Let’s expand our collective repertoire!

STORIES ARE NOT JUST FOR CHILDREN
Molly Housh, preaching

I was inspired recently by John's call for 'more storytelling' in our congregation, and I've often thought about the power of stories in our lives. We tend to think of stories as something we tell to children, but they can have such a big impact in all of our lives. As Nigerian author Ben Okri says: "“Stories can conquer fear, you know. They can make the heart bigger.” As we work on making our hearts bigger, this worshipful explo-ation of storytelling will also invoke the stories of Palm Sunday and Passover. We will also celebrate two child dedications. The choir will sing a lively setting of the Passover prayer "Adir Hu" plus some boisterous Hebrew dance songs.

Children go directly to classes.

At coffeehour the Youth Group will be holding a bake sale to provide you with delicious goodies for this holiday season, which includes both Passover and Easter. Stop by and pick up some home-baked goodness and help the youth along their way to New Orleans.

THE MEANINGS OF EASTER
The Rev. John Buehrens, preaching

To judge by most traditional sermons for Easter, there is only one meaning to Easter. But that was not true even at the beginning. The most relevant interpretations for our lives today are often, ironically, buried. Be astonished at the resurrection of a believable, relevant, meaningful Easter! The music will feature lyrical selections from Godspell along with vibrant Alleluias by Paul Halle, sung by the choir.

Children attend services with their parents.
