Activities & Programs

First Parish in Needham has a wide and growing array of programs for people of all ages and many interests. It’s easy to get involved!

In addition to the programs that have their own areas on the homepage of this website, you may want to learn more about some of these programs and activities:

Welcoming Congregation – affirming the worth and dignity of every person and celebrating the presence in our midst of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons; overseen by a Welcoming Congregation Committee that develops programs that help the congregation promote respect not only within our congregational life, but in the community as a whole.

Adult Education – presenting evening courses and weekend workshops that promote lifelong spiritual development and religious learning, and that apply enduring values to the social issues of our time.

Fun and Frolic - Fun and Frolic is working hard to make sure everyone in our parish stays connected to our church community during this year of exile. Please consider joining us for one of these large group or small group activities during the upcoming year.

Youth Group – 20+ teens, meeting on Sunday evenings, September to June, with our Intern Minister and Youth Advisor and another adult; having fun, raising funds, doing social action projects, making friends and growing together in the capacity to talk and think about the ‘big questions’ in life.

Volunteers – Serving the church community in countless little ways, from office help to fix-it projects, from driving someone to church or to a medical appointment to helping with a social event or a social action project.

Committees – Service on church committees is open to active friends of the congregation as well as official members. Helping plan programs and oversee activities can be a fulfilling activity in itself, with real growth opportunities for useful leadership skills.
