Activities & Programs

First Parish in Needham has a wide and growing array of programs for people of all ages and many interests. It’s easy to get involved! In addition to the programs that have their own areas on the homepage of this website, you may want to learn more about some of these programs and activities:

Continuing Education (formerly Adult Education) – presenting evening courses and weekend workshops that promote lifelong spiritual development and religious learning, and that apply enduring values to the social issues of our time.

Fun and Fellowship (formerly Fun 'n' Frolic) - Thanks to the Fellowship Committee, we always have a wide array of ongoing activities and one-time events to keep us entertained and draw us closer together.

Youth Group – The First Parish Youth Group is open to all interested high school students. It is led by a paid youth advisor who also works as the intern minister of the church. Currently, the group has approximately 30 youth. Most meetings are held Sunday evening, at 7 pm, at the church. We invite you to come and check us out!

Parenting Your Children Group – Commonly referred to as PYC, this dynamic group gathers monthly for family potlucks followed by an hour of "parent talk", while the kids retire downstairs for games, projects, and general fun under the supervision of hand-picked sitters.

Welcoming Congregation – affirming the worth and dignity of every person and celebrating the presence in our midst of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons; overseen by a Welcoming Congregation Committee that develops programs that help the congregation promote respect not only within our congregational life, but in the community as a whole.

Volunteers – Serving the church community in countless little ways, from office help to fix-it projects, from driving someone to church or to a medical appointment to helping with a social event or a social action project.

Committees – Service on church committees is open to active friends of the congregation as well as official members. Helping plan programs and oversee activities can be a fulfilling activity in itself, with real growth opportunities for useful leadership skills.
